“In addition to our electric strategy in Europe, we are also concentrating our efforts in Asia and North America. The ID.7 holds significant importance for Volkswagen, particularly in China, Canada, and the USA. It stands out for its spacious interior, advanced driver assistance systems, and modern amenities such as a top-of-the-line infotainment system. Customers can expect a true premium experience with Volkswagen’s first all-electric flagship model,” said Imelda Labbé, a Member of the Board of Management for Sales, Marketing, and Aftersales at Volkswagen.
To highlight the global significance of the model, the world premiere on April 17th will be broadcasted live to China, the USA, and five major European cities. The event will kick off at 2:00 pm CEST.
For Volkswagen, the introduction of the new ID.7 marks another milestone in its journey towards a fully electric lineup. By 2026, Volkswagen aims to offer the most diverse electric vehicle range in Europe, starting from an affordable entry-level model under 25,000 euros to a new electric compact SUV, culminating in the ID.7 as the flagship electric model.
The ID.7 is set to become Volkswagen’s next global electric model. In China, it will join the ID.3, ID.4, and ID.6 electric product lines as a top-tier offering. Meanwhile, three new ID. models are in the pipeline for the North American market. Sales of the ID. Buzz will commence in the USA and Canada in 2023, followed by the launch of the ID.7 in 2024. Together with the ID.4 manufactured in Chattanooga, the ID.7 and ID. Buzz will drive Volkswagen’s electric expansion in the American market. By 2027, Volkswagen plans to invest over seven billion euros in the electric and digital transformation of its brand in North America.

Production is now underway worldwide. The ID.7 will be manufactured at the Emden plant in Germany for the European and North American markets. Volkswagen has dedicated over one billion euros to convert the North German facility into an electric mobility production hub. In China, local production of the ID.7 counterparts is also in the works.
