After nearly six decades since the last race, Solitude Revival on 22nd and 23rd June 2024 reminisces about the motorsport golden days when formula cars, GT cars, sports cars, and prototypes raced through the forest near Stuttgart. Achim Stejskal, Head of Porsche Heritage and Museum, expresses excitement about bringing legendary cars and drivers to the former racetrack for a two-day event. The goal of their “Mission Future Heritage” is to connect the past with the future and engage the younger generation in driving culture. The former Solitudering, known for attracting up to 150,000 visitors, continues to captivate audiences even today. Solitude Revival promises a mix of active and retired racing drivers along with motorsport enthusiasts.
Distinctive Drivers and Iconic Cars
Porsche Heritage and Museum will showcase seven special sports cars during the event, featuring historical racing and road vehicles deeply rooted in the sports car manufacturer’s history. These cars will be driven by equally remarkable drivers who have made their mark on the motorsport world. Marc Lieb, a Le Mans overall winner and endurance world champion, describes driving a historic sports car at Solitude Revival as a trip back in time, emphasizing the demanding nature of the track. Other notable drivers like Richard Lietz and Ayhancan Güven will also participate, representing different generations of racers who continue the legacy of motorsport.
Visitors can look forward to seeing Tatort actor Richy Müller behind the wheel of a vintage sports car at Solitude Revival, attracting classic car enthusiasts. Renowned World Rally Champion Walter Röhrl praises the captivating essence of Porsche showcased at the event, driving a sports car powered by innovative eFuels. With a focus on sustainability, Porsche presents three cars fueled by eFuels – 550 Spyder, 911 Carrera 2 Cup, and 911 GT3 Rallye. These vehicles highlight Porsche’s commitment to innovation alongside electromobility. The ‘Porsche Renndienst’ VW van at the event provides insights and information on eFuels for interested attendees.
Exhibit Celebrating Racing and Road Cars
The Solitude Revival organizers pay tribute to the late Herbert Linge through a memorial race, honoring his significant contributions as a former racing driver and operations manager at the Weissach Development Centre. Porsche Heritage and Museum commemorate Linge’s legacy with the display of a 1954 550 Spyder and a special race dedicated to his memory, featuring several Porsche sports cars from private collections. This showcase will trace the motorsport journey of Herbert Linge, celebrating his remarkable career.

One of the highlights will be the Porsche 356 B 2000 GS Carrera GT, known as the ‘Dreikantschaber.’ This unique 1963 Porsche, with its wedge-shaped design, achieved notable success at events like the Targa Florio. Another lightweight version of the 356 B, the 356 B 2000 GS Carrera GTL Abarth, will also be on display, showcasing Porsche’s competitive edge in Gran Turismo sports during the 1960s. These racing cars highlight Porsche’s rich history of victories in esteemed races such as the Targa Florio and Le Mans Championship.
Special Displays for the Turbo Anniversary
Aligned with the theme ‘Beyond Performance – 50 Years of Porsche Turbo,’ Solitude Revival will feature the iconic Porsche 934, a GT racing car introduced in 1976. Celebrated for its powerful turbocharged engine, the 934 was a customer motorsport favorite, known for its performance on the track. Another standout display is the 964-generation 911 Carrera 2 Cup from 1993, boasting lightweight features and high-speed capabilities tailored for competitive racing.
The event will also showcase the Porsche 911 GT3 Rallye from 2002, designed for rallying and featuring components custom-built for endurance races. The 996 generation rally car, developed with input from two-time rally world champion Walter Röhrl, epitomizes Porsche’s commitment to motorsport excellence. The 911 RSR from 2022, part of Porsche’s latest lineup, will impress attendees with its cutting-edge design and performance capabilities.

Another attraction at Solitude Revival will be the Porsche 911 GT3 Rallye from 2002, a production-based rally car developed in a short period to meet specific racing requirements. With a focus on performance and agility, this rally car, driven by Walter Röhrl, showcases Porsche’s dedication to motorsport innovation. Porsche will also feature the 911 RSR from 2022, a high-performance endurance racing car equipped with advanced technologies for superior track performance.
Porsche Heritage and Museum will present a static display of the unique 911 Turbo 3.0 Coupé from 1976, once owned by Ferry Porsche. This special model boasts exclusive features like buffalo leather interiors and distinctive design elements, making it a collector’s item. Additionally, visitors can explore a wide range of Porsche products at the museum shop, including lifestyle collections, literature, and souvenirs. Special commemorative products for the Turbo anniversary will also be available for enthusiasts to purchase.
