ID.UX blends well-established VW qualities with a design focused on lifestyle. Unique features of the brand include a modern exterior design and a driver-centered interior that showcases a completely fresh display and control concept (HMI) aimed at younger buyers. The initial model from the ID.UX lineup is set to hit the market in 2024 under the name ID.UNYX.
Enhanced local development to drive greater innovation
Volkswagen is fortifying its network of manufacturing, design, sourcing, and battery production in China. By the close of the year, the workforce at the research and development center in Anhui is projected to reach 3,000 specialists. The brand is also ramping up efforts to localize production in order to achieve notably quicker development cycles. Chinese collaborators like XPENG, Horizon Robotics, and Thundersoft are being incorporated into the design process from the early stages. Working jointly with XPENG, Volkswagen is preparing to introduce two fresh mid-range vehicles starting in 2026. Staff at the joint ventures CARIZON with Horizon Robotics and CARThunder with Thundersoft are actively involved in creating advanced systems for autonomous driving, entertainment, and connectivity.
